Okay, so I was able to get out a little early. My friend Ann was still chilling at the house (apparently, flying from Hawaii to San Diego to Chicago to Providence all in the space of three days or so, can take a toll on a person) but I dragged her out and, since it was a nice day, decided to walk downtown and go check out the
Cliff Walk, this nice trail that runs between the ocean and the mansion row in Newport.
Interjection: did an easy five km at lunch. Still have some effects of bronchitis in my lungs, and my chest was sore like I'd run after smoking or sitting in a bar or something, but it was a good run.
So downtown is about a mile and a half away. Ann's pretty fit and doesn't mind walking, so we did that walk, ate burritos at a pretty decent place I like down there, and then took off for Belleview Ave and the beginning of the Cliff Walk, about another mile or so.
Then we walked about three miles and change down the path. The first part of that is paved, but after a while it turns into tilting slabs of granite and shale. Absolutely gorgeous, what with the blossoms of kelp on the ground, the bearded rocks, the birds and bunnies everywhere. It goes a little further on, but by that point, my legs felt like they were just about done, which made the walk back just that much more interesting.
So I guess that makes three miles of running, my normal five miles of biking (two and a half to work and back) and, shit, eleven miles of walking?
And I'm supposed to run five miles today. Probably doing it on the track again, until I get new shoes, plus I have a good fartlek plan that I came up with to properly kick my ass (two laps of jogging, one hard, one easy, two/ two, three/ three, two/ two, one/ one, followed by complete systems colapse) that should be fun, but still...
Anyway, more later.
