Now that it's been three days, I'm slowly getting better, but I'm still having trouble breathing and I've had a fever the whole weekend... as high as 100.8 but usually in the high 99 range, just enough to be annoying.
On the bright side, my best friend Ronnie is up for the weekend, and Friday, we took my friend Natsu (who came from Japan to go to University and incidentally to indulge her love of Broadway) up to see Spamalot!, one of her favorites (though she'd never seen it live) and one that R. and I had wanted to see for a long time. It was absolutely wonderful. Probably funnier than the original movie, actually, though they didn't kill the pedantic historian like they did in the movie. Ah well. Still great.
And then afterwards, we went to meet my friend Sean, who is from NYC and moved back there after he got out of the Navy. We hadn't seen each other in over a year. He's quite gay, and after waiting for him on a street corner in the west village for, shit, a half-hour maybe, he took us to this restaurant/ bar/ drag show club called "Lips." Natsu's very very open about a lot of things (she thought it was cool that Sean was gay, open, and happy) but I don't think she was expecting to see transgendered men dry-humping cabaret-style dance routines. Still, it's my responsibility to her to show her all sides of America, not just the sites in Cape Cod or Providence like I've showed her before.
Not going to run today, and I feel really bad about that. Actually, what with the bronchitis I'd already decided that I wasn't going to run and I would just do a hour-plus walk along Ocean Drive on the south side of the island, but it's rainy, cold, and drizzly, today. I don't know if that would be the best thing for my lungs right now. I'm just worried about missing training... last year, when I started to do that, it made it harder and harder to start up again.
