Okay, normally I don't do these things, but seventhheaven just tagged me and I thought, why not? I'm supposed to list ten quirky or strange things about me that you otherwise might not know.
1) I collect books. Actually, anyone who's been in my house knows this, but by collect, I mean 'hoard.' And if they're books by the same author, or especially in the same series, they have to be the EXACT SAME printing.
2) Hiking is a religious experience for me, and since I now work in a chapel, it's perhaps the only one left that truly moves me. Even just walking on a beach or a road by myself (or at times, with someone) is special.
3) I secretly (sometimes) like not having my glasses right now... or I would if I could still see as well as I could the last time I was without them. (1995) It's nice not being distraccted by everything and just focussing on what's important. I don't like not being able to drive, though, and the slow reading is impossibly frustrating.
4) Even if I never publish anything, I'll still write books. I know this. Maybe my grandkids will be rich.
5) I love insects, especially spiders, since they eat mosquitoes. Ants, though, when they're inside the house, scare the crap out of me.
6) I still sit like I did when I was 12... legs splayed out, constantly crossing and recrossing them.
7) The only way I'm afraid of dying is by accidental poisoning, and sometimes I can almost panic, thinking that I've eaten something that will finally do it for me.
8) I miss running.
9) I felt so at home when I lived in Italy for those four years, and even though a lot has gotten worse over in Naples since I moved, I still think, constantly, about moving back there. Or Singapore, which has captured a little more of my heart every time I've been there.
10) I'm glad to be American, but a lot of the time I wish I didn't live here, and I often feel guilty about that.
Okay, now I think I'll tag a few people... paths4byzantium, jewfroart, and nomadhands for now. Oh yeah, and anyone who reads this, you've just been tagged, too.
