So, trying to get the house ready since I have guests coming up this weekend... Ronnie from DC (haven't hung out in two months... I'm writing in her studio right now, but she's been going to school in Maryland) and our friend Ann from Hawaii, who's moving to Orlando and hitting the east coast on the way. Most of it's done... I just have to get the bedroom clean, and then there's the worst part...
I hate it when I do a huge cleaning job... vacuuming, sorting, scraping up cat hairs and such... and then have to clean it again two or three days later. I mean, I have two cats, and I've had two cats of one stripe or another since 1995 or so, but I still hate looking back at something, say... the bathroom... and realizing that I have to clean it up again. It's totally irrational, since as a science geek I know all about entropy (not to mention as a sailor... we see a lot of entropy on a daily basis) but still...
okay, I'm done whining for now. Kind of. Oh, and I'm stuck in another book... The Winds of War. I think I read this years and years ago, when I was in Junior High... I know my parents read it and its sequel, War and Remembrance. Except for a few things here and there, though, I can't really remember reading it. I know I read Shogun around the same time, so maybe I'd just heard Mom and Dad talking about the other one. I don't know. Either way, I'm glad I'm reading it now. It's another addictive one.
Oh yeah, my right foot is definitely starting to develop achilles tendonitis, so I'm going to get new shoes after work (my Asics, specially adapted for overpronators, have about 500 miles on them) and double my stretches... also probably skip running up 'Phil the Hill' (500m, 18%) for a little while, too. Today's just a three-miler, and I'll do it at the gym, which is much more boring but easier on the paws.
